What is FLAMES?

FLAMES is a classic schoolyard game played by millions of students. You take two names, cross out the letters they share, and the leftover count reveals your "connection." The word stands for the six possible outcomes:

🤝F — FriendsBest buddies with an easy, lasting bond.
💞L — LoversReal romance and a spark between you.
🥰A — AffectionWarm, fond and caring about each other.
💍M — MarriageWedding-bells, happily-ever-after vibes.
⚔️E — EnemiesPlayful rivals… enemies-to-lovers, maybe?
🫶S — SiblingsFamily-style: you bicker, but you care.

How to play (the original way)

  1. Write both names side by side.
  2. Cross out the letters they have in common, one-for-one.
  3. Count the letters left over from both names.
  4. Go around F-L-A-M-E-S that many times, removing one letter each round.
  5. The last letter standing is your result.

Questions

Is FLAMES accurate?

Not at all — it's purely for fun. A lighthearted game and a great icebreaker, never a real prediction.

Will the same names always give the same result?

Yes. The math is fixed, so identical names always land on the same letter.

Do I need to sign up?

Nope. Play as many times as you like, completely free.
